You can’t be everyone’s cup of tea. You could be one of the finest, most expensive teas out there, and yet there are bound to be a few individuals who can’t stand your flavor. To some, you’re too hot, too cold; too bitter, too sweet, too strong, too weak. You will always be too much of something for someone and too little of something for another. The world is filled with people who, undoubtedly, no matter how hard you try, will simply not fancy you. And that’s okay because here’s the thing, the world is also filled with people who can’t get enough of you. People who love you fiercely and unconditionally.

They love the way you laugh at your own jokes and the way your hair falls perfectly into place. They love the way your eyes glow and flutter when you’re reading a good book. Or when your face lights up when you look at someone you love. They see beauty in you through the simplest things…the way your chest peacefully rises and falls while you sleep. The way your forehead wrinkles when you concentrate too hard. And those hugs…those warm, addictive hugs you give, that make everything in the world seem alright.

So, let me give you a piece of advice, as cliche as it may sound. Stay true to who you are. Don’t worry about what other people think of you or how they try to make you feel. They may try to tell you how to think, what to feel, and what to say. But just remember, there is harm in letting their words control your sense of self. Someone out there will always dislike you, don’t let it be you.

Everyone is unique, and you are no exception. You, my friend, have a purpose. And while you may not know what your purpose is yet, as long as you remain true to yourself and embrace everything you have to offer the world, your purpose will find you. And along the way, always remember…you can’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

Yours Truly, Mamabear
